Yoga Calculator: Find the Yogas in Your Kundli by Date of Birth

This yoga calculator finds the yogas in a kundli by date of birth, time and place. It checks the best-known kundli combinations (Gajakesari, Budhaditya, the five Pancha Mahapurusha yogas, Dhana, Saraswati, Lakshmi and Raj Yogas) and also names the panchang yoga of the birth moment, one of the 27 yogas printed in every Indian panchang.

Two kinds of “yoga” in Jyotish

The word *yoga* means union, and in Indian astrology it is used in two quite different ways. Panchang makers in Kashi and the editors of popular calendars like Kalnirnay print one kind every day; a family astrologer looking at a kundli talks about the other. A good kundli yoga calculator should show both, clearly separated:

Kundli yogas vs panchang yogas

Kundli yogas this calculator checks

  • Gajakesari Yoga: Jupiter in a kendra (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th) from the Moon. Known for wisdom, respect and a good name.
  • Budhaditya Yoga: Sun and Mercury in the same sign. Linked with intelligence and communication; very common because Mercury never strays far from the Sun.
  • Chandra-Mangala Yoga: Moon and Mars together or opposite. Associated with earning through enterprise.
  • Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas: Mars (Ruchaka), Mercury (Bhadra), Jupiter (Hamsa), Venus (Malavya) or Saturn (Sasa) in its own or exalted sign *and* in a kendra.
  • Dhana Yoga: lords of the wealth houses (2nd and 11th) linked with each other or with the 5th/9th lords.
  • Saraswati Yoga: Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in kendras, trikonas or the 2nd house, with Jupiter well placed. The yoga of learning and the arts.
  • Lakshmi Yoga: a strong 9th lord in a kendra or trikona with a well-placed Lagna lord.
  • Raj Yogas: kendra and trikona lords joining hands (the Raj Yoga calculator explains these in depth).
  • Sunapha, Anapha, Durudhara and Kemadruma: yogas formed by planets beside the Moon, or by their absence.

Why does almost everyone seem to have Budhaditya Yoga?

Mercury always stays within about 28° of the Sun, so they share a sign in a large share of charts. Teachers therefore judge Budhaditya by strength (Mercury not combust, the sign friendly) rather than by its mere presence.

The 27 panchang yogas explained

Add the Sun's and Moon's sidereal longitudes, divide the circle into 27 parts of 13°20′, and the part you land in is the yoga. That is the whole method, and it is why the old trick of counting the day of the year gives wrong answers. Most of the 27 are considered auspicious; a few are avoided for new beginnings.

As an auspicious yoga calculator for muhurta, the same method applies to any date: families in Bihar and eastern UP still check the yoga before a griha pravesh or mundan, avoiding Vyatipata and Vaidhriti in particular.

How to use this yoga calculator

  1. Enter the date of birth. Panchang details (tithi, nakshatra, yoga, vaar) appear straight away.
  2. Add the birth time and place for the kundli yogas; without them, house-based yogas are only provisional.
  3. Read the yoga list. Each yoga shows the planets and houses that form it; “Strong” means a key planet is exalted or in its own sign.
  4. Check the chart and planet table against a printed kundli if the family has one.

A yoga describes a potential, and it ripens mostly in the dasha of the planets that form it. Someone with Gajakesari Yoga, for example, may feel its effect most during Jupiter or Moon periods.

Is 5 number Rajyog? Yoga and numerology

A common question is whether life path 5 (or 1, 9, 22) means Raj Yoga. Numerology links 5 with quick thinking and travel, but it has no house lords and no kendras, so it cannot form a Jyotish yoga. This free yoga calculator keeps the two apart and lists only yogas formed by planets.

Why use this all-yoga calculator

  • Real positions, not shortcuts: planets are calculated for the exact moment and place, with Lahiri ayanamsa.
  • Every result explained: no mystery labels; each yoga names the planets behind it.
  • Kundli and panchang together: the North Indian chart, planet table and birth panchang on one screen.
  • Free yoga calculator in kundali form: no app, no sign-up, works on any phone.
FAQ

Yoga Calculator: questions people ask

How do I calculate my yoga in astrology?

For the panchang yoga, add the Sun's and Moon's sidereal longitudes and divide by 13°20′; the result (1–27) is the yoga. For kundli yogas, a chart with Lagna and house lords is needed, which this calculator builds from the date, time and place of birth.

What are the 27 yogas in Vedic astrology?

They are the nitya yogas of the panchang, from Vishkambha to Vaidhriti. Most are auspicious; Vishkambha, Atiganda, Shula, Ganda, Vyaghata, Vyatipata, Parigha and Vaidhriti are traditionally avoided for new work, and Vajra is mixed.

Is 5 number Rajyog?

Not in Jyotish. Life path 5 is a numerology idea; Raj Yoga needs a connection between kendra and trikona lords in the birth chart.

Which is the most powerful yoga in a kundli?

Teachers often name Dharma-Karmadhipati Raj Yoga, the Pancha Mahapurusha yogas and Gajakesari among the most valued, but strength depends on the planets involved and the dasha running.

Can I find yogas without a birth time?

Partly. Panchang details and sign-based yogas (like Budhaditya) are reliable from the date, but Lagna and house-based yogas need the birth time.

Is this yoga calculator free?

Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser.
