ATS Resume Checker: Score Your Resume Against a Job

This ATS resume checker compares a resume with a specific job description, the way applicant tracking systems do. It shows a match score, the keywords the job asks for that the resume is missing, and whether the basics (contact details, experience, education, skills, length) are in place. It runs in the browser, so the resume is never uploaded.

How the score is worked out

  • Keyword match (70%): important skills, tools and repeated phrases are extracted from the job description, then looked for in the resume.
  • Basics (30%): email, phone, an experience or projects section, education, skills, and a length of 300–900 words.

What makes the best resume checker?

One that checks the resume against the actual job post, explains what is missing, and doesn't pretend to be every company's ATS. Use the score as a guide to tailor the resume, not as a guarantee.

Improving the ATS result honestly

  1. Copy the exact job title into the resume headline if it fits.
  2. Add missing skills and tools only where they are true, in the skills section and in an experience bullet showing how they were used.
  3. Use standard headings: Experience, Education, Skills.
  4. Save as PDF or Word with selectable text, never a scanned image.

For a PDF resume, open it, press Ctrl+A to select all text, copy and paste it into the checker. If nothing copies, the PDF is an image, and an ATS can't read it either.

FAQ

ATS Resume Checker: questions people ask

What is an ATS resume checker?

A tool that compares your resume with a job description and shows the match and the missing keywords, as an applicant tracking system would.

Is this ATS checker free?

Yes, free and private; the resume stays in your browser.

What is a good ATS score?

Above about 75% is strong for that job; 50–75% is decent; below 50% the resume needs tailoring.

Can I upload a PDF?

Paste the text instead: open the PDF, select all, copy and paste. If the text can't be copied, the PDF is an image and should be recreated.
