Resume for Freshers: Free Fresher Resume Builder

A resume for freshers has one job: prove that a candidate with little or no work experience is worth an interview. This free builder does the layout part. Pick a degree preset (B.Com, B.Sc, IT/Computer, ITI or general) and the right fresher resume format loads with sections in the order Indian recruiters expect; replace the sample text with your own details and watch the resume update as you type. Ready professional summaries for each degree, one-tap skill chips, a certifications section, four colours, a full sample to compare against, a declaration toggle and PDF or Word download are built in. There's no sign-up, and everything stays in your own browser. Below the tool you'll find how to write each section, summary and objective examples, skills lists by field, and answers to the questions freshers ask most.

How to make a resume for freshers in 3 steps

  1. Choose your degree preset. B.Com loads an accounts layout with Tally and GST, B.Sc a lab and QC layout, IT/Computer a projects-first layout, ITI a trade layout, and General a clean one for B.A. or any other degree.
  2. Replace every line with your own details. Name, phone, email, city, education with percentage or CGPA, projects, internships or training, and skills. Don't invent an internship or certificate: interviewers ask about every line, and background checks verify them later.
  3. Download and apply. Use “Download PDF / Print” for online portals and email, and “Download Word” if a placement cell or consultant wants an editable file.

What if I have no internship at all?

Use projects instead: a final-year project, a mini project, a college fest you managed, or a self-made Excel tracker or website. Write what you built, the tools used and one result. An honest project beats a vague internship.

Fresher resume format: the correct order

Recruiters at campus drives in Pune, Noida, Bengaluru or Indore often spend under a minute on each resume, so the order matters as much as the content. The fresher resume format the builder follows:

  1. Contact details: name, phone, professional email, city. LinkedIn or GitHub if active. A full home address isn't needed.
  2. Professional summary or objective: two lines naming the degree, a real skill and the role wanted.
  3. Education: latest first, with college or board, year and percentage or CGPA. Freshers put this above experience.
  4. Projects and internships: two or three, each with what was done, the tools used and a result.
  5. Skills: technical skills first, then tools, then two or three soft skills.
  6. Certifications and achievements: NPTEL, NISM, Tally, typing certificates, sports or NSS/NCC.
  7. Languages and declaration: languages known; a declaration if the employer expects one.

Keep it to one page. A fresher resume that runs to two pages usually has padding (hobbies, full address, father's occupation) that is better left for a biodata.

Professional summary for freshers: ready examples

A professional summary in resume for freshers works like a headline: two lines that make the recruiter keep reading. A simple formula:

Degree + 2 real skills + 1 proof (project, internship or result) + target role
  • Accounts / B.Com: “B.Com graduate with hands-on practice in Tally Prime, GST returns and bank reconciliation, seeking an accounts assistant role where accurate, on-time books matter.”
  • General: “Graduate with strong communication in Hindi and English and good MS Office skills, seeking an entry-level office or customer-facing role to learn quickly and take responsibility early.”
  • Software testing: “Computer science graduate trained in manual testing, test case design and JIRA, who has tested two college projects end to end, seeking a QA trainee role.”
  • Data entry: “Graduate typing 40 wpm with 98% accuracy, comfortable with Excel formulas and data cleaning, seeking a data entry or back-office role.”

All four are in the builder's “Insert a ready fresher summary” menu. Insert one, then change the skills and proof to match your own.

Best career objective for fresher: when to use one

Summary or objective? A summary sells what you already have; an objective states what you're aiming for. Freshers with a solid project or internship should write a summary. Those changing fields, applying for a first government or PSU job, or with nothing yet to show can use an objective. The best career objective for fresher candidates is still specific:

  • “B.Sc Chemistry graduate trained in titration and instrument handling, seeking a QC trainee role in a pharmaceutical or food laboratory.”
  • “ITI Electrician (NCVT) seeking an apprentice or maintenance technician role to apply panel wiring and safety practice on a shop floor.”
  • “B.A. graduate with a typing certificate and computer course (CCC), seeking a clerical or data entry role in a government or private office.”

Avoid lines like “to work in a challenging environment for the growth of the organisation”; they say nothing about the candidate. More examples are in the career objective guide.

Skills to add in a fresher resume

List only skills that can be shown or explained in an interview. If you can't prove a skill, leave it out. Typical skills by field:

Fresher skills by field
FieldSkills to add
Accounts / commerceTally Prime, GST returns (GSTR-1, 3B), TDS basics, bank reconciliation, Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
IT / computerOne programming language well (Java, Python or C++), SQL, Git, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, manual testing basics
ScienceLab techniques (titration, pipetting), instrument handling (pH meter, UV-Vis, HPLC basics), GLP, sample documentation
General / officeMS Office, typing speed in English and Hindi, email etiquette, data entry, customer handling

For a longer list of hard and soft skills, see skills to add in CV, or get role-wise keywords from the resume keywords generator.

BCom fresher resume: a note for commerce graduates

Commerce graduates are the largest group of freshers searching for a resume, and the same rules apply with one twist: Tally and GST go near the top, ahead of general skills, because accounts recruiters look for them first. A CA-firm internship should carry numbers (“prepared GSTR-1 for 12 clients”). Without an internship, a self-made project such as maintaining a shop's books in Tally for three months is an honest substitute. The full sample, objective and section-by-section guide are on the BCom fresher resume page; science graduates have their own BSc fresher resume page.

Resume ending: the “I hereby” declaration

Many Indian employers still expect a resume to end with a declaration, especially government offices, PSUs, banks and smaller private firms. The standard wording:

I hereby declare that the information given above is true to the best of my knowledge and belief.

Place: Bhopal (Your Full Name)
Date: DD/MM/YYYY

It goes at the very end. The builder adds it by default; untick “Include declaration” for MNC, startup and overseas applications, where it isn't expected. More wording options are in the resume declaration guide.

Resume vs bio data for freshers

A resume leads with skills, projects and education, and suits private companies, IT firms and most online applications. A biodata leads with personal details (father's name, date of birth, address) and is still asked for in walk-in interviews, employment exchanges, security and factory jobs, and many clerical posts. Freshers in smaller towns are often asked for both. When a job post or a local agency asks for bio data for freshers, use the job biodata maker instead of this builder.

Download your fresher resume in Word or PDF

  • PDF for job portals (Naukri, LinkedIn, Indeed), email applications and campus placement forms: the layout never shifts.
  • Word (.doc) when a placement officer, consultant or employer asks for an editable resume format in Word.
  • Printed copies for walk-in interviews: print on A4 at 100% scale and carry two.

Name the file clearly: FirstName-LastName-Resume.pdf (for example, Ankit-Verma-Resume.pdf), not “resume-final-2.pdf”. Before applying online, run the resume through the ATS resume checker with the job description to catch missing keywords. For degree-wise samples, read the fresher resume by degree guide.
