Raj Yoga Calculator: Check Raja Yoga by Date of Birth
This Raj Yoga calculator reads a Vedic birth chart from the date, time and place of birth, then checks every classical Raja Yoga rule: kendra and trikona lords joining hands, the Yogakaraka planet, Vipreet Raj Yoga and Mahabhagya Yoga. It is free, needs no sign-up, and shows exactly which planets form each yoga, so the result can be checked against any family kundli.

Raj Yogas in this chart
Yogakaraka planet
Venus rules both the 4th house (kendra) and the 9th house (trikona) for a Aquarius Lagna, which makes it the Yogakaraka. It sits in the 10th house (neutral sign).
Raj Yoga (kendra–trikona)
Sun (lord of the 7th house, a kendra) and Mercury (lord of the 5th house, a trikona) are linked by conjunction in Capricorn, your 12th house.
Raj Yoga (kendra–trikona)Strong
Mars (lord of the 10th house, a kendra) and Saturn (lord of the 1st house, a trikona) are linked by mutual aspect.
Vipreet Raj Yoga (Harsha, Sarala, Vimala)
Sarala Yoga (Vipreet Raj Yoga)
The 8th lord Mercury sits in the 12th house, another dusthana. In Vipreet Raj Yoga, the lord of a difficult house placed in a difficult house is read as setbacks turning into gains.
Numerology note: Life Path 33
Numerology is a separate system from Jyotish. A life path number on its own does not create a Raj Yoga; the yogas above come only from the planets.

What a Raj Yoga calculator actually checks
Ask a pandit in Varanasi or Ujjain whether a chart has Raj Yoga and the first thing they do is find the Lagna (ascendant). Every house, and so every house lord, is counted from it. A genuine Raj Yoga calculator has to do the same: work out where each graha stood at the moment of birth, find the Lagna for the town of birth, and only then test the rules. That is what this tool does, using real planetary positions and the Lahiri ayanamsa found in most Indian panchangs.
The result lists each yoga with its reason, for example “Jupiter (lord of the 4th, a kendra) and Venus (lord of the 9th, a trikona) are joined in Cancer.” Families who already have a printed kundli can match the planets one by one, which is the quickest way to trust a result.
Can Raj Yoga really be checked by date of birth alone?
Only partly. The date fixes which sign each planet is in, but Raj Yoga is about house lords, and houses depend on the Lagna, which changes roughly every two hours. Without a birth time the calculator uses 12 noon and warns that house-based results are provisional. With the time on the birth certificate, the answer is complete.
The classic Raja Yogas, in plain words
Classical texts describe dozens of Raja Yogas, but almost all of them grow from one idea: the kendras (houses 1, 4, 7 and 10, the pillars that support a life) meeting the trikonas (houses 1, 5 and 9, the houses of merit and fortune).
| Yoga | How it forms | Traditionally linked with |
|---|---|---|
| Kendra–trikona Raj Yoga | Lord of 1/4/7/10 joins the lord of 1/5/9 by conjunction, exchange or mutual aspect | Rise in status, authority, recognition |
| Dharma-Karmadhipati Yoga | The 9th lord (dharma) and 10th lord (karma) are linked | Fortune supporting career; often called the finest Raj Yoga |
| Yogakaraka planet | One planet rules both a kendra and a trikona (e.g. Saturn for Vrishabha and Tula Lagna) | A single planet that can deliver Raj Yoga results in its dasha |
| Vipreet Raj Yoga | Lord of 6, 8 or 12 sits in another of these houses | Gains that come through setbacks, rivals or crisis |
| Mahabhagya Yoga | Day birth (man) or night birth (woman) with Lagna, Sun and Moon all in odd or all in even signs | Great fortune and good name |
Yogakaraka: one planet doing double duty
For some Lagnas a single planet owns a kendra and a trikona at once. Saturn does this for Vrishabha (Taurus) and Tula (Libra) Lagna, Mars for Karka (Cancer) and Simha (Leo), and Venus for Makara (Capricorn) and Kumbha (Aquarius). Astrologers watch the Yogakaraka's dasha closely, because that is when its promise tends to show.
Vipreet Raj Yoga calculator: Harsha, Sarala and Vimala
Vipreet means “reversed”. The 6th, 8th and 12th are the dusthanas, the houses of debt and disease, sudden upheaval, and loss. When the lord of one of them sits in another, the trouble is said to fight itself, and the person often rises *after* a hard phase. The yoga gets a different name depending on which lord is involved:
- Harsha Yoga: the 6th lord in the 8th or 12th. Associated with beating competitors, good health and courage.
- Sarala Yoga: the 8th lord in the 6th or 12th. Associated with resilience, long life and a fearless nature.
- Vimala Yoga: the 12th lord in the 6th or 8th. Associated with careful spending, independence and a clean reputation.
Anyone searching for a Vipreet Raj Yoga calculator by date of birth gets the same check here: the tool looks at all three lords and names the yoga, or explains why it is not formed.
Is Vipreet Raj Yoga good or bad?
Teachers usually describe it as good news hidden inside bad news. It doesn't remove difficulties; it suggests the person comes out of them stronger, often with unexpected gains.
Mahabhagya Raja Yoga: why it is so rare
Mahabhagya Raja Yoga needs three conditions at once. For a man: born during the day, with the Lagna, Sun and Moon all in odd signs (Mesha, Mithuna, Simha, Tula, Dhanu, Kumbha). For a woman: born at night, with all three in even signs. Because the Moon changes sign every two and a half days and the Lagna every two hours, only a small share of births qualify, which is why the old texts praise it so highly. The calculator decides day or night from the Sun's actual position at the birth place, not from a fixed 6 am–6 pm rule.
How to check Raj Yoga with this calculator
- Enter the date of birth exactly as on the birth certificate.
- Add the birth time. Hospital records are best; family memory (“around sunrise”) can shift the Lagna.
- Choose the place of birth from the list, or pick “Other place” and type the latitude, longitude and UTC offset.
- Select male or female, which only affects Mahabhagya Yoga.
- Read each yoga with its reason, then open “Planet positions used” to compare with a printed kundli.
A yoga's strength depends on its planets. A Raj Yoga made by an exalted or own-sign planet (marked Strong) gives fuller results than one made by a debilitated or combust planet. Results also arrive mainly in the dasha or antardasha of the planets involved.
Raj Yoga calculator and numerology
Many people search for a Raj Yoga calculator numerology version, hoping a life path number like 1, 9 or 22 means Raj Yoga. In numerology those numbers are linked with leadership, but numerology and Jyotish are two separate traditions. A Raj Yoga is formed only by planets and houses. The calculator shows the life path number as a side note, clearly labelled, so nobody mistakes it for a kundli yoga.
Why results differ between Raj Yoga calculators
- Date-only tools guess the Lagna, so their house-based yogas are often wrong.
- Different ayanamsas (Lahiri vs Raman vs KP) can move a planet or the Lagna into a neighbouring sign.
- Different rules: some count only conjunctions, others include aspects and exchanges. This calculator counts all three, as Parashara does, and says which one applies.
- Wrong birth time: a few minutes near a sign boundary changes the Lagna. The tool warns when the Lagna sits within 1° of a boundary.
Astrology is a traditional system of interpretation, and this calculator is meant for learning and reflection. Major decisions about health, money or marriage deserve advice from qualified people, not a yoga alone.
Raj Yoga Calculator: questions people ask
What is Raj Yoga in Vedic astrology?
Raj Yoga is a combination in which the lord of a kendra (houses 1, 4, 7, 10) connects with the lord of a trikona (houses 1, 5, 9) by conjunction, exchange or mutual aspect. Classical texts link it with status, authority and recognition.
Is this Raj Yoga calculator by date of birth free?
Yes. It is completely free, needs no sign-up, and calculates the chart in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored.
How is Vipreet Raj Yoga calculated?
It forms when the lord of the 6th, 8th or 12th house sits in another of those houses: Harsha Yoga (6th lord), Sarala Yoga (8th lord) or Vimala Yoga (12th lord). The calculator checks all three.
How rare is Mahabhagya Raja Yoga?
Quite rare. A man needs a day birth with Lagna, Sun and Moon in odd signs; a woman needs a night birth with all three in even signs. All the conditions have to hold at the same time.
Is Life Path 9 a Raj Yoga in numerology?
No. Life path 9 is a numerology number linked with drive and courage, but Raj Yoga is a Jyotish combination of planets and houses. The two systems should not be mixed.
Why does my Raj Yoga result differ from another website?
Usually because of the birth time, a different ayanamsa, or different rules. This calculator uses Lahiri ayanamsa and counts conjunction, exchange and mutual aspect, and it shows the planets behind every yoga so you can compare.
Does having Raj Yoga guarantee success?
No chart guarantees anything. Astrologers read a Raj Yoga together with planetary strength and the dasha periods; it describes potential, not certainty.
