SRM GPA Calculator: GPA, CGPA and Percentage

This SRM GPA calculator uses the SRM grade system (O, A+, A, B+, B, C) to work out semester GPA from each course's credits, combines semesters into CGPA, and converts to percentage. It suits students at Kattankulathur, Ramapuram, Vadapalani and the other SRMIST campuses under the 2021 regulations and later.

Final marks combine continuous assessment (cycle tests, assignments, lab work) and the end-semester exam, in the proportions set for each course type. The grade then comes from the marks band above.

SRM GPA formula, explained simply

GPA = Σ (course credits × grade points) ÷ Σ credits (one semester)
CGPA = Σ (all credit points) ÷ Σ (all credits) (all semesters)

Example: courses of 4, 4, 3, 3 and 1.5 credits with grades O, A+, A, B+ and O give (40 + 36 + 24 + 21 + 15) ÷ 15.5 = 8.77 GPA. Students at Kattankulathur often forget that 1- and 1.5-credit lab and value-added courses also enter the calculation; a C in a small course hurts less than in a 4-credit one, but it still counts.

How do internal marks affect SRM GPA?

Internal (continuous assessment) marks are part of the final marks that decide the grade. A strong internal score can lift a borderline end-semester result into the next band, so cycle tests matter.

SRM GPA to CGPA

CGPA is not the average of semester GPAs when credit totals differ. Enter the earlier CGPA and the total credits completed so far, and the calculator combines them properly with the current semester.

SRM GPA to percentage

The conversion commonly used for SRM transcripts is percentage = CGPA × 10, so 8.5 CGPA is 85%. If a particular employer or university asks for a different method, it will usually say so, and SRM's examination office can issue a conversion certificate.

Keep the grade cards from every semester handy: the credit totals printed on them are what the CGPA formula needs.
